She starts her class by announcing her resignation. ![]() Takako Matsu portrays this vengeful teacher called Yuko. It’s a strange contrast between childlike and sophisticated, humorous and grievous, withdrawn and noisy and the outcome is something that could only be described as a masterpiece. It’s daunting and pitch dark, yet Nakashima has managed to incorporate his usual cartoon sound effects and even a musical number. “Confessions” is based on Kanae Minato’s debuting novel “Kokuhaku” and tells the story about an elementary teacher seeking revenge on two of her students that killed her daughter. In 2010, he ditched the glittering outfits and colourful settings and undertook a much darker project. ![]() Former advertisement director Tetsuya Nakashima has given us some sparkling and lively drama-comedies such as “Kamikaze Girls” and “Memories of Matsuko”. ![]()
